Vincent Valentine (Season 1 - Present)
The main character of The Village, Vincent Valentine's past is filled with immense pain and tragedy. Years prior to Final Fantasy VII, he was a Turk for the Shinra Electric Power Company, and he was later assigned to supervise Doctor Lucrecia Crescent who, at the time, was working on a theory on Omega, Chaos and the Lifestream. Shortly after, Vincent found himself falling in love with the doctor. However, the Turk then discovered that his late father, Grimoire Valentine, had been working on the Omega project with Lucrecia and had ultimately met his death saving her. Upon questioning her, Lucrecia fled, insisting that it was her fault, and she then entered a relationship with Hojo, a fellow scientist.
Lucrecia became impregnated by the evil doctor, and the two had decided that they were to use the unborn child as a test subject with Jenova cells. Feeling the need to intervene, Vincent spoke out and challenged Hojo, and as Lucrecia stepped in, she had sided with Hojo, much to the Turk's dismay. She eventually became ill, and visions of her unborn son, Sephiroth, and his devious actions plagued her. Once again, Vincent stood up to Hojo, and as a result, he was shot in the stomach by the doctor's hand. Lucrecia, ridden with guilt, began to attempt to revive the man, and she eventually used the Lifestream; the experiment had violent reactions. Vincent's body took on the form of Chaos, and to cease the demonic being, Crescent placed Protomateria in his body. Hojo got his hands on Vincent soon after, and he experimented with his body by injecting Jenova cells into him, making him immortal and incredibly strong. Not willing to go on, Lucrecia encased herself in Mako crystals where she remained in a state of suspended animation forever. Awakening at last, Vincent looked upon his body in horror, and realizing that this was his punishment for not saving Lucrecia, he locked himself in the basement of the Shinra Manor for what seemed to be an eternity.
Thirty years later, Cloud Strife, the protagonist of Final Fantasy VII, discovered the Turk, and Vincent Valentine makes an emergence as a secret character. He is seen aiding Cloud yet again in the film Advent Children. His role becomes vital as he stars in the shooter Dirge of Cerberus in which thoroughly explains his shadowy past. In the game, taking place three years after the events of Final Fantasy VII, Vincent is confronted by the Deepground soldiers, a hidden branch of Shinra. Vincent battle Weiss, the host of both Omega and Hojo's subconscious, and upon their defeat, Chaos awakens and emerges to stop Omega, the being that delivers the end of the world. In the end, Chaos and Omega return to the Lifestream, and Vincent Valentine is able to begin the life of peace that he had desired for so long.
A few months after the events of Dirge of Cerberus, the Turk's life of peace is abruptly interrupted when a sudden vortex appears and whisks him away to the land of Riyona. He soon meets Kikyo, a familiar face from Inuyasha, and the two find their way to the Riyona Village, where the being Riyona oversees his people. The two outsiders then meet a pair of sisters, Miyo and Kohana, and a grand series of events are to unfold, and Vincent's conquest for peace continues in this mysterious, new land.
